The Reality
I have this dream of creating spaces where art is a daily part of life in this community again. Where individuals experience personal growth through exercising their passions and are excited and inspired to create spaces for other people. A ripple effect of community, of passion, of hope.
I wrote a business plan and learned that if I could create the dream as a part of an existing non-profit, my contributions could get to the artists rapidly, making an impact NOW instead of years later.
I approached a local non-profit with the idea. After a year of discussions I was frustrated with the bureaucracy, the overhead, and the slow pace. I had a project that I wanted to do that couldn’t wait.
I adjusted the dream. I started Growing Art Press to complete the existing project. I put the first of many foundation stones in place for the realization of the dream - the Growing Art Organization. As the Press grows, it will spawn the individual grants that will enable the dream. It just takes time and persistence.
